Californian couple plan amazing cycling tour of the famous vineyards and Castello Brolio

Gusto Cycling has planned numerous bespoke cycling tours for a diversity of people including a growing posse of cyclists from the USA & Canada.
Indeed a group of 4 Californians have planned a tuscany cycling itinerary so spectacular, I just have to share it with you!
David and his group obviously have a nose for a good wine (of course they do…they’re from California!) and has requested a bespoke cycling tour to include wine tasting lunch and cycling in some of the most auspicious Vineyards in the Chianti region. Including Castello Brolio and in Southern Tuscany Castello Banfi.

Tuscany vineyard cycling tour
Castella Banfi is the home of Brunello Montalcino one of the ‘kings’ of red wine. It produces over 500,000 bottles a year and is
the oldest winery in Italy (and the second oldest in the world!). Castello Brolio is the largest winery in the Chianti Classico region and where Baron Bettino Ricasoli invented the Chianti formula in 1872 (a very good year!)

Our Californian party of four will enjoy a tour (including wine tasting) and lunch at these 2 famous vineyards.
After the tour at Castella Brolio. The 2 couples are collected and along with their bikes transferred to Montepulciano where they have accommodation arranged by Gusto in a ‘Palazzo’ (palace) within the walls of historic Montepulciano.

The next day they cycle 35 km across the breathtakingly beautiful, undulating landscape of the Val d’Orcia region lined with Cyprus and fruit trees, all within the Unesco- a world heritage area, before arrival at the Castello Banfi where they are taken on a guided tour around the vineyard and it’s cellars.
They enjoy a wine tasting experience and sample more over a lavish luncheon before staying at Banfi Castle a fabulous hotel where the rooms are huge and gorgeous.

The next day the couples are in the saddle again for a cycling tour further into the Tuscan country side to sample more of it’s delights and more of it’s wine!

So What’s your ideal trip?
Combining your cycling trip with exploring Tuscan food, wine, culture and Iconic medieval towns and villages adds a new dimension to your holiday and is a great way to keep fit in the process..
Of course if you want a cycling tour with no distractions you can plan a bespoke cycling focussed trip …we can provide a cycle guide to show you the very best of each area of Tuscany.
